The solution for the judiciary is in serious reforms, Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said the second part of her interview with MIA.
Responding to the question of where the solution is for the judiciary to gain trust, which currently stands at only two percent, the President decisively says “In serious reforms”.
However, the Macedonian head of state says, it must be checked who entered office with what kind of wealth, and with what they left, and this does not only apply to the judiciary.
“When anyone takes over only a certain kin fog post, a certain job, it is easy to check what they entered with, how they left and whether it is possible. I am not surprised by the huge money of some figures in world politics, tied to artificial intelligence and so on, but when you see profiles that absolutely could not earn it from their work, to acquire wealth, it certainly needs to be examined,” said Siljanovska-Davkova.
However, she adds that citizens have witnessed an anti-system becoming a system or that what was illegal has become something regular.
“This takes time, but I am also very strict here, I still have some remarks. I think that if we do not decide to break with partisanship and politicization when applying, when choosing people in the judiciary, in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in the Constitutional Court, in the Administrative Court, in the management boards and so on, then we will go around in circles,” noted the President.
She believes that all those who found themselves in the right place, but are the wrong people, who do not deserve that place, will not be adhere to laws, the Constitution, the rule of law, ethics and morality, but to those who nominated them and those who appointed them to these high posts.
“No one’s intelligence and knowledge came from the position they found themselves in, but from hard work, studying, taking exams, investing in themselves and appreciating their own dignity and integrity. That is what we need because no one from the outside can increase or decrease your percentage. The perception among citizens is still the same, so we must take steps to overcome it. How? With different results, with a philosophy of sanctioning, with a philosophy of responsibility, with a philosophy of applying justice to those in the highest posts, and not by avoiding it, with a serious attempt to reexamine the origin of property,” underlined Siljanovska-Davkova.
