The appeal of the 30-day detention of former Customs Administration director Stefan Bogoev was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) and public prosecutor on Friday, who has not yet returned a decision, the Skopje Basic Criminal Court reported on Sunday.
“After completing the files, a preliminary procedure judge will forward the case to the criminal council for a decision,” the Criminal Court said.
Bogoev was brought to the Skopje Basic Criminal Court on Wednesday afternoon, where he was brought before a preliminary procedure judge following a request from the PPO OCC to order detention for Bogoev and three other people due to reasonable suspicion of abuse of the public procurement procedure for accepting and giving bribes.
After their statement before a judge in a preliminary procedure at the Basic Criminal Court Skopje in the presence of a defense attorney, the court issued decisions with: the proposal for determining measures of detention for a period of 30 days.
The PPO previously announced that the suspects are charged with the criminal offenses of abuse of the public call procedure, awarding a public procurement contract or public-private partnership, receiving a reward for unlawful influence and giving a reward for unlawful influence.
According to the evidence provided, first suspect Bogoev, using his official position and influence as Director of the Customs Administration, influenced the implementation of the tender procedure in favor of the selected bidder in the amount of MKD 18,479,692.
Within the investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office informed that evidence was also provided for receiving and giving a reward for unlawful influence, with the first suspect receiving a reward in the amount of MKD 111,600 for taking advantage of his office and real influence.
