The VMRO-DPMNE MP group in the Macedonian Parliament has submitted a set of proposed amendments to six laws regulating the wages of elected and appointed persons, in order, as the ruling party MPs say, to ensure a fairer distribution of budget funds and alignment with the economic conditions in the country.
MP Bojan Stojanoski says that the main goal is to establish a fairer distribution of public funds.
“The proposed solutions intervene in the amount of the coefficients, which ensures the rational use of funds from the Budget,” the MP pointed out.
According to Stojanoski, the legal solution is constitutionally sound.
“This legal solution is fully in line with the Constitution and clearly defines the coefficients for calculating salaries, respecting the principles of separation of powers and social justice,” Stojanoski noted.
The amendments envisage a reduction in the wages of public officials, such as MPs, ministers, judges, public prosecutors and members of the judicial and prosecutorial councils, by an average of MKD 10,000 to MKD 13,000, and in some positions even more. A new wage scale for mayors is also envisaged, depending on the number of residents in the municipalities.
