Close to 2,000 people have signed an online petition urging distance learning to be introduced as of September 1 instead of school reopening. The parents who started the petition have already sent to competent institutions an official request for distance learning.

The petition asks authorities to reach a decision allowing distance learning for all students, especially pupils grade 1 to 5, given their age and the inability to adhere to the health protocols on their own.

– Online learning is the only way to protect children, teachers, parents and their family members, as well as the staff, at risk groups and the population in general. According to the petition, the model proposing physical presence in schools two hours a day, shifts in schools, shortened curriculum and 180-day winter vacation cannot provide a safe environment for development, socialization and education and doesn’t eliminate the risk of infections and exposure to the disease.
