The forces for control and protection of the sovereignty of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia on Saturday at 10:39 a.m. over the city of Valjevo, at an altitude of 5,500 meters, discovered an unknown flying object, Serbian B92 reports.
On the orders of President Aleksandar Vuči, a pair of MiG-29 fighter jets were called up for duty, and anti-aircraft missile units and radar assets continued to track the facility through the airspace.
As the pair of aircraft moved towards the interception zone, the target was lost to radar. Fighter jets continued their flight and searched the area, as per procedure, to confirm the situation.
After searching the area, the aircraft were ordered to return to their home airfield, and the rest of the force continued regular monitoring and surveillance of the airspace.
