The number of tourists in January increased by 6.2% on an annual basis, while the number of overnight stays decreased by 2.7%, according to data from the State Statistics Office (SSO) released Wednesday.
The number of domestic tourists in January went up by 10.1% on an annual basis, while that of foreign tourists increased by 3.9%. In terms of overnight stays among domestic tourists, overnight stays increased by 4%, while those among foreign tourists decreased by 7.7%.
The data show that in January alone, 52,943 tourists were registered in the country that spent 103,983 overnight stays.
Of the total number of tourists, 38.2% were domestic tourists, and 61.8% were foreign tourists. Domestic tourists accounted for 45.5% of overnight stays, and foreign tourists accounted for 54.5%.
The most foreign tourists in January came from Turkey (6,732), Serbia (3,563), Bulgaria (3,256) and Greece (3,060).
