Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced that 2,600 new trash containers will be installed shortly and said that the priority of his term is to establish a functional system in the city and improve communal services.
The mayor pointed out that Skopje has been facing serious infrastructure and organizational problems for years and added that his goal is to build a system that will ensure the regular functioning of city services.
He indicated in an interview with Telma TV that even before taking office he was aware of the city’s financial situation, the losses in the water supply network and the shortcomings of the infrastructure.
According to the mayor, the goal is to build a system that will not depend on political circumstances and will ensure the regular functioning of city services.
“Something that has been missing in Skopje for many years is to build a system that will not depend on the mercy of the central government. So far, we did not have a system and now we are building it,” Gjorgjievski pointed out.
As one of the key measures to improve public hygiene, he announced the installation of 2,600 new trash containers throughout the city. We are now providing 2,600 containers, and in the past 10 years, this number has not been provided in total, stressed the Skopje mayor.
