Relations with Türkiye will continue to develop at a faster pace in the coming period, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said after Saturday’s meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that reaffirmed the traditionally friendly and strategic bilateral cooperation.

“We expressed satisfaction from the excellent political relations based on mutual respect, trust and sincere friendship between the two nations. We discussed the opportunities for further enhancement of economic cooperation, increase in trade exchange, new investments and enhancement of cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism, education and defense,” PM Mickoski said in a social media post Saturday.

“President Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s support to Macedonia’s development and prosperity, as well as readiness for further strengthening of bilateral ties in all fields of mutual interest. We also exchanged opinions on current regional and international challenges, highlighting the need for stability, cooperation and economic development of the region. We voiced assurance that bilateral relations will continue to develop at a faster pace in the coming period,” adds the Prime Minister’s post.
