At Saturday’s session of the Committee on Finance and Budget, VMRO-DPMNE MP Julija Tushevska noted that with this budget revision, funds are redirected where they are most needed, i.e. towards projects and policies that will have a real effect on citizens and the economy.

MP Tushevska stresses that despite global geopolitical tensions, rising energy prices and uncertainty on international markets, the Macedonian economy is showing resilience and recording positive economic indicators.

“The world is once again facing serious geopolitical tensions, rising energy prices and uncertainty on international markets. All of this inevitably has an impact on our economy. But despite these challenges, the Macedonian economy is showing resilience. In Q1 2026, real economic growth of 3.1% was achieved, construction recorded growth of as much as 7.2%, and civil engineering recorded double-digit growth of 24.5%. The average net salary in March is 8.2% higher, and foreign direct investments reach EUR 218.6 million, which represents an increase of almost 47% compared to the same period last year,” said Tushevska.

”These are indicators that the economy has potential, but also that this potential must be supported by a smart fiscal policy. That is why with this revision, total revenues are projected at MKD 379.5 billion, and expenditures at MKD 425.8 billion. The additional funds are not intended for unproductive consumption, on the contrary, they are directed towards fulfilling legal obligations, capital investments, education, social protection and local development,” added the ruling party MP.
