Bishop Kliment: It’s our duty and obligation to witness and pass on the covenant of Cyril and Methodius to the younger generations

Our duty and obligation is to witness and pass on the covenant of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their disciples through deeds to the younger generations, who are our future and heritage, said the Bishop of Eraclea, Kliment, at the solemn academy held in the church of St. Sophia in Ohrid on the Day of the Pan-Slavic brothers Cyril and Methodius

Our duty and obligation is to witness and pass on the covenant of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their disciples through deeds to the younger generations, who are our future and heritage, said the Bishop of Eraclea, Kliment, at the solemn academy held in the church of St. Sophia in Ohrid on the Day of the Pan-Slavic brothers Cyril and Methodius.

“Life here, on this Macedonian soil, where historical circumstances have not always been favorable to us and our aspirations, has enabled us to mature as an experienced people with our own language and culture. A people peaceful, but not naive, aware of their own uniqueness, unrepeatability and responsibility before the face of God and before the world. This, in turn, has not caused in us self-sufficiency and closure towards others, nor arrogance and pride in our national habitus, but, quite the opposite, has developed a deep awareness and empathy for mutual relations and centuries-old ties with all with whom we share space and common everyday life. The cultivation of the ethos of coexistence, of shared life, and even of life offered for the benefit of others, is not only the fruit of positive political trends, nor of the development of human civilization with all its unfolding technological progress. The ethos of togetherness, of respect and appreciation for the diversity and uniqueness of every person and people, It is directly and essentially connected to God’s action in history, to the entry of the Word of God into time and space, to His saving incarnation, through which the way was opened for us, the people, to our true enlightenment,” said Bishop Kliment.
