Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects that during the upcoming visit of President of the European Council António Costa, they will exchange more ideas on overcoming the obstacle to the country’s EU integration, which he described as an artificial bilateral requirement.
Mickoski says that the country’s position has not changed and that a solution will be sought that will not touch the dignity of the Macedonian people and Macedonian citizens. Mickoski reiterates that there is no room for an inch of concession in terms of identity, because, he points out, “this country and the citizens of Macedonia have given too much in the past decades, and in return we have received nothing or very little and once again we have bilateral demands before us.”
“With the President of the European Council, Costa, we have had exceptionally friendly talks so far, we exchange ideas, opinions. He has always been constructive in the direction of finding a solution to this artificial bilateral request that one member state has towards Macedonia. I hope that we will continue in that direction in the future and I am sure that his presence here, and during our bilateral meeting, and then at the working dinner, we will be able to exchange more ideas, to see if and how the obstacle can be overcome,” said Mickoski during the opening of a shopping center in Gevgelija.
“The Macedonian positions have been stated many times, and it would be uncivilized to expect the position to change overnight, because the preconditions that we expect to be met, and which we deserve, have not been met,” noted the Macedonian PM.
