A pipeline set to transport diesel fuel from the refinery in Thessaloniki to the OKTA refinery in Skopje is being restarted after 13 years. Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhninovska said Tuesday all necessary checks of the functionality of the system have been completed, marking an important step toward strengthening the security of the supply of petroleum products.

With this, the pipeline resumes operations after a 13-year hiatus, representing a significant step towards strengthening the security of supply of petroleum derivatives and modernizing the energy infrastructure.

The inspection was conducted by the Bureau of Metrology, with the participation of representatives from the Czech Metrological Institute (CMI) and the Metron laboratory from Thessaloniki, and in the presence of representatives from the customs service. Together with authorized and expert personnel from the Bureau, they checked the correctness and metrological characteristics of the system, in order to confirm that the measuring equipment functions precisely, reliably and in accordance with the highest standards.

Minister Bozhinovska emphasizes that technical correctness and measurement accuracy are key prerequisites for the safe and transparent functioning of the energy infrastructure.

“This is a significant step towards establishing a reliable and modern system for the supply of derivatives. Precise measurement, control and international verification mean trust, stability and long-term energy security for the country,” said Bozhinovska.
