The attitude of the European Union towards N. Macedonia is unfair, arrogant and blackmailing, stated 55.8% of respondents in the EUROMETAR 2023 poll by Eurothink – Center for European Strategies. 27.5 percent said that the EU’s attitude is fair, friendly and correct.
However, for 60.8 percent of respondents, the EU is the best alternative for the country, which is a growth of 2% compared to 2022, when 58% answered that way. A high 35.6% believe that the country should look for its own development model outside the EU (33% in 2022).
At Tuesday’s presentation of the results of the conducted survey, Dimitar Nikolovski, executive director of Eurothink – Center for European Strategies, said that despite the growing skepticism regarding the country’s entry into the EU, 53% of the respondents agree that the entry into the EU is good for the country, compared to 49% in 2022, while 30% do not think so.
It is symptomatic that 30% of respondents think that the country will never enter the EU, compared to 12% who think that it will happen in 5 to 9 years.
The EUROMETAR 2023 survey was conducted in September, on a representative sample of 1003 respondents, by the BRIMA agency, on a multilevel stratified random sample of the population aged 18+, designed according to the data published by the State Statistics Office and based on data taken from the 2021 Census.
