PPO launches investigation against Prilep Employment Center employee for taking bribe

 The Prilep Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) has launched an investigation against a senior services officer at the Prilep Employment Center, suspected of having requested and received a bribe of MKD 18,000 from a social assistance beneficiary over a period of three months, promising him that his benefit would not be cancelled and that his wife would be registered as an active job seeker

 The Prilep Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) has launched an investigation against a senior services officer at the Prilep Employment Center, suspected of having requested and received a bribe of MKD 18,000 from a social assistance beneficiary over a period of three months, promising him that his benefit would not be cancelled and that his wife would be registered as an active job seeker.

The suspect was detained while receiving the last amount, and the Prosecutor’s Office proposed that he be remanded in custody.

The suspect is charged with committing the crime of Accepting a Bribe under Article 357 of the Criminal Code.

“The suspect, in the period from April 23 to July 24 this year, as an official – senior officer for services at the Employment Agency, Prilep Employment Center, requested and received a bribe in the total amount of MKD 18,000 from a person from the village of Belo Pole, in order to perform an official action that he should not have performed and in order not to perform an official action that he should have performed,” Тhe Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release Saturday.
